Karlie Kloss, Daphne Groeneveld And Olivia Wilde Embrace Fake Freckles … – Fashion & Style
One of the funnest beauty trends made an appearance at Fashion Week on both sides of the pond: fake freckles!
Stateside, Rihanna favorite Adam Selman sent his models down the runway with Jane Birkin-inspired fake freckles during New York Fashion Week; a few days later, Oscar De La Renta models including Karlie Kloss and Daphne Groeneveld wore a more subtle version with just a few spots each.
In the UK, Preen models took it to the extreme with full-body faux freckles during London Fashion Week.
Already on board with the trend, Topshop launched the first Freckle Pencil this summer, which lets you copy the sunkissed look for just $7. (A light brown eyeliner or brow pencil also works).
“Just draw them one by one, tiny, and it looks like a real freckle. It’s really fun,” makeup artist Maki Ryoke, who used Too Faced Bulletproof Brows 24-hour Waterproof Cashmere Clay for the freckles at Adam Selman, told Pret-A-Reporter.
At least once celebrity has openly embraced the trend: in December, Olivia Wilde told Nylon that she loves fake freckles.
“Something I was just talking about that I think is a cool trick I haven’t seen many makeup artists do is–Gucci Westman does this–she adds freckles,” Olivia said. (Westman also added freckles at Oscar de la Renta.) “Because when you put on foundation you lose some of that natural look so the freckles can make it look like you’re not wearing anything which is nice. She uses the Revlon Colorstay Brow Pencil because you don’t want your freckles to smudge. Not a good look.”
